Wool from Woolfest

The stash!

It does look rather obscenely huge, but it did all fit into two bags!

Gorgeous doesn’t even begin to describe this silk/lambswool from Freyalyn

Beautiful Blue-faced Leicester & Wensleydale from Natalie

More Wensleydale – this time from Ruth & Ann at the Wensleydale Longwool Sheepshop www.wensleydalelongwoolsheepshop.co.uk

Green Great wool from Freyalyn – this is for some socks for Carolyn’s widower, Robert

I am in love with Jeni’s sockwool. The self-striping blue skein is for some socks for a b’day present for Niels (our lodger) – he chose it. I can’t wait to see how it comes out. The green might just have to be for me

Beautiful Blue-faced Leicester from Gemma with silk from Jean & Walter at Oliver Twists

Natural-dyed fleece & skeins from Artisan Threads. I’m not sure what I’ll do with the fleece yet, but the skeins will surely end up as socks

Jacob wool from Chris at Garthenor & fleece from Manor House Studio. Socks, more socks

The Sheep Auction was fantastic – we raised over £1000 for Farm Africa & I bought Freyalyn’s sheep! Here they are, on either side of Herbert my Blue-faced Leicester who helps me demonstrate spinning BFL at shows.

And an aerial shot, to show Freyalyn’s cunning fairisle skill

Other things in the stash were some different colours of Norwegian wool from Maggie, blue Shetland from Wheeldale Wool Craft, some lovely variegated fine wool fleece from Freyalyn and some gorgeous cashmere from Knitwitches (that wasn’t on the shopping list, gulp, but it was so snuggly & my resistance was gone by 4.45 on Saturday!)

And definitely not least, some wonderful socks, a kind pressie from Juliet! *HUG* I’ve been having a real sock crisis with holes everywhere & no time to darn & too busy making socks for the shop to do any for myself, so these are so very welcome!

What was on my list & I forgot :(
….some more beautiful wool from Amanda at the Natural Dye Studio – I’m saving up skeins to make something yumptious but not sure what yet….and some linen thread from Debbie, The Mulberry Dyer, for a crochet commission I’ve got.

So, I should be busy for a while: I’ll post what happens to it all as it happens!
