Wool to Woolfest

Woolfest this week, Cecilia has been getting stuff ready to sell.

There’s some skeins I’ve spun:

Blue-faced Leicester – something between lace-weight & 4-ply in feel. Tops from Andy (www.bluefaced.com), dyed by my friend Jan. I usually knit this into baby socks.

I really like this. The tops came from the Wensleydale Longwool Sheepshop, already dyed (they have a stall at Woolfest this year)

Not a very good photo, but this is Jan’s mohair from her goats – friends & relations of my little goat – dyed by her. It’s spun beautifully to a lace-weight. I’m really pleased with the blue one

Some *cough* rustic-style-spun Blue-faced Leicester, sort-of aran weightish. I’d been going to make this into socks, but haven’t got to it yet

Will I finish this in time? I expect it’ll still be on the wheel at the Spin-In! Lace-weight Blue-faced Leicester from the sheep on our farm which Carolyn dyed

Not-hand spun, but this is Blue-faced Leicester from our farm, dyed by Jan. Most of it will be in sock kits, with a pattern by me (including all sorts of handy things like common foot measurements/shoe sizes & how to graft…)

Baby socks in my hand-spun BFL. These particular ones will probably go to Andy’s raffle for Mirasol, but there’ll be some more like them – though no two pairs are just the same

And some grown-up socks. These ones are in a nice wool I picked up at Trefriw Woollen Mill in North Wales, but most of the socks are in rare-breed & local wool in natural colours
